His Excellency Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan, the 5th President of the Republic of Maldives and Special Envoy of the President, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

The meeting took place in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the deep-rooted friendship and mutual understanding between Bangladesh and the Maldives.

During the discussion, the two dignitaries exchanged views on a broad range of issues of common interest, including education, culture, and people-to-people connectivity.

H.E. Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan fondly recalled his past visit to Dhaka, expressing admiration for Bangladesh’s vibrant culture, cuisine, education system, and the generosity of its people. He acknowledged the valuable contributions of the Bangladeshi community to the Maldivian economy and expressed particular interest in promoting greater cultural collaboration—especially through music, dance, and the arts.

The High Commissioner, H.E. Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, shared Bangladesh’s ongoing progress in socio-economic development and highlighted opportunities for cooperation in higher education, including medical internships, engineering programmes, and scholarship initiatives for Maldivian students.

Both sides reaffirmed that the bond between Bangladesh and the Maldives is rooted in shared values, friendship, and mutual respect. They expressed confidence that continued collaboration will further strengthen bilateral relations and yield meaningful benefits for both nations.

Counsellor (Labour) Mr. Md. Sohel Parvez and Personal Officer Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman were also present during the meeting.
