On 28 October 2025, Hon’ble Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Dr. Ali Haider Ahmed, Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Skill Development of the Maldives. The meeting was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere, reflecting the strong and long-standing ties between the two friendly nations.
Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the education sector. Both sides explored opportunities to increase internship placements for Maldivian medical students in Bangladesh and to encourage a greater number of Maldivian students to pursue higher studies across various disciplines at Bangladeshi institutions. The Minister also expressed interest in enhancing access to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes, where Bangladesh continues to offer considerable expertise. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Bangladesh and the Maldives to deepen collaboration in education and skill development, and further to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
