His Excellency Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the Maldives, undertook an official visit to Hanimaadhoo Island from 31 October to 1 November 2025. During the visit, he paid a courtesy call on the Local Councillor of Hanimaadhoo.

In the cordial and constructive meeting, both sides discussed various matters of mutual interest, including raising awareness on biometric registration, ensuring better working and living conditions for Bangladeshi expats on the island, and the ongoing development of the new international airport project in Hanimaadhoo.

The Local Councillor appreciated the valuable contributions of Bangladeshi expats to the island’s development and said they consider the Bangladeshi community part of their own family, assuring continued support whenever needed.

The High Commissioner highlighted the importance of creating a safe and enabling environment for Bangladeshi workers and expressed sincere gratitude to the local authorities for their continued cooperation and goodwill toward the Bangladeshi community.

The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr. Md. Sohel Parvez, Counsellor (Labour) of the High Commission, and Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Personal Officer to the High Commissioner.
